Mexico Pavilion

As a lot of the Mexico Pavilion is indoors and air conditioned, it’s perfect to cool down or escape rain. Head up the steps to the Mesoamerican Pyramid for Mexican highlights.

The atmosphere inside is that of a traditional Mexican market set in the evening. The interior is complete with atmospheric lighting and even a volcano in the background.

The market place sells all sorts of wares, from Mexican hats and maracas to tequila. Be sure to check out Cast Members creating glass figurines. Watch beautiful wood carvings being created in the Mexico Folk Art Gallery. You can purchase any to take home.

The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros is a gentle boat ride through the Mexico Pavilion as the 3 feathered amigos search for missing Donald Duck.

Remember Me! La Celebración del Día de Muertos is a colorful collection of traditional art created by prominent Mexican and Mexican-American artists.

Dining at Epcot World Showcase in Mexico Pavilion:

There are three eateries and a drinking hole in the Mexico Pavillion:

  • San Angel Inn Restaurante: This 17th-century hacienda serves South of the Border specialties in perpetual twilight.
  • La Hacienda de San Angel: Serving flavors from several Mexican regions. Furthermore, this restaurant also offers lagoon views, perfect for fireworks if you can time it right.
  • La Cantina de San Angel: This quick service restaurant offers a selection of Mexican favorites, plus lagoon views.
  • La Cava del Tequila: A cozy tequila bar that celebrates the heritage and tradition of tequila-making in Mexico. Over 70 tequilas are offered.

Shopping in Mexico Pavilion:

  • Plaza de los Amigos – a bustling market scene located inside the Mesoamerican Pyramid. There’s a selection of stores and carts selling all kinds of Mexican souvenirs – fine handcrafted jewelry and scarves, crystal and glassware by Arribas Brothers, leather goods, food items and handmade dolls and figurines.
  • El Ranchito Del Norte is located outside, next to the Hacienda de San Angel Restaurant. You’ll find a range of Mexican souvenirs, from sombrero’s and maracas to pinatas.
  • Ring Carvers – right next door is the ring carvers where you can get your name or initials carved into a ring. You can purchase brass, silver or gold.

Character Meets in Mexico Pavilion:

Donald Duck, complete with Mexican sombrero and poncho, meets visitors in the shady spot at the side of the Mayan Pyramid.

Landscape in Mexico Pavilion:

The landscaping at the Mexico pavilion represents two regions: the jungle and the desert. Facing the Mayan temple, you see plants and flowers typical of the jungle surrounding the building. This section of the Mexico pavilion, with its several varieties of palm trees, is the most tropical area represented at Epcot. One of the most notable plants in this area is the floss silk tree, located near the steps to the left of the temple. These showy trees present springtime blossoms and, in other seasons, an odd-shaped fruit hanging from its bare branches.

Epcot gardeners take great care to make this landscape look “unmaintained” as if it were a genuine jungle.

Norway Pavilion Character Meet & Greets

Royal Sommerhus
Anna and Elsa are in residence at the Royal Sommerhus for photo’s and warm hugs. This is the only place in the whole of Walt Disney World where you can meet these two favorite characters.

You can also hang out with some Norway Vikings. These free-spirited Norsemen are looking for new recruits to join their crew.

Our Favorite Norway Pavilion Gem:

I find it quite hard to walk by the Kringla Bakeri og Kafe without popping in for School Bread. If you like the sound of delicious bread (akin to a dinner roll) filled with a velvet creamy vanilla custard, topped with icing and sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes, then this is just for you. But it’s actually not as sweet as it sounds, which makes it even easier to munch. And munch. And munch.

The Clock Tower chimes on the hour with two traditionally dressed figurines popping out to ding the bell. We can’t quite call it an attraction, but it’s worthy of a minute or two if you happen to be there on a chime time.

Miniature Bavarian Village
To the right of the German Pavilion is the Epcot Garden Railway – a miniature Bavarian village complete with moving model trains and intricate attention to detail. The attraction was originally created for the 1995 Epcot Food & Wine Festival, but it proved so popular, the powers that be decided to leave it as a permanent fixture.

United States Pavilion

The American Adventure is the flagship pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot and celebrates the spirit of America’s history and diversity.

The American Adventure pavilion showcases the Georgian style seen in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall and Boston’s Old State House. Like both of these historic buildings, The American Adventure also has a steeple and clock tower.

It took Disney Imagineers five years to complete, using 110,000 bricks of Georgia red clay that they aged for an extra authentic touch.

The pavilion is home to the American Adventure show, housed inside the 108,000-square-foot Georgian-style mansion. The 29-minute presentation is one of the most elaborate ever created using Audio-Animatronics figures.

The Japan Pavilion offers a serene journey through the cultures of this enchanting country. The floating torii of Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima is one of the most well known landmarks in Japan. Morocco Pavilion

PLEASE NOTE: The Morocco Pavilion is currently going through some transitions and some dining/retail areas are currently unavailable.

With winding backstreets and hidden pathways, the Morocco pavilion is one of the most immersive. Towering above the pavilion is the Koutoubia Minaret, a replica for the icon located at Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, the largest mosque in Morocco.

The Moroccan Pavilion is the only location that does not light up during the Epcot fireworks. As the tower is a replica of a prayer tower, it would be a violation of customs to light a prayer tower at night.

The Morocco Pavilion is also one of the few pavilions in World Showcase at Epcot that was originally funded by the country it represents. King Hassan II sent designers to help with construction. They purposely installed flawed mosaic tiles in keeping with Muslim belief that only Allah can produce perfection.

The attention to detail by the Moroccan craftsmen is evident throughout this exquisitely ornamental display.

Make your way towards the back of the pavilion and you will be rewarded with a delightfully authentic Marketplace. Tapestries, crafts, jewelry and belly dancing costumes are just a few on the numerous wares on offer.

Entertainment at Morocco Pavilion

  • Musique Aramenco will entertain you with a fusion of traditional and modern music accompanied by belly dancing. The show lasts 20 minutes and is on several times a day.

Fun Fact About Morocco

Hollywood Studios is right next door to World Showcase and you can see the back of the Tower of Terror when you are in Epcot!

To stop it from being too obvious, Disney Imagineers created it to blend in with Morocco.
Clever huh?! Look for it when you visit World Showcase at Epcot. You can’t see it when you are in Morocco though. The clearest view is from the opposite side of Showcase Lagoon, between the Friendship Landing boat dock and the bridge before Mexico.

United Kingdom Pavilion

Not only does the United Kingdom have quaint cobbled streets, there’s a traditional pub, tea shop, red phone boxes and fish & chips too. It doesn’t get more British than that! Additionally, there’s live music on the bandstand and a maze for kids to explore.

The detailed architecture throughout the United Kingdom pavilion represents several time periods, including Victorian, Tudor and Georgian. A mini replica of Hampton Court Palace is the main frontage on one side, with a row of varying aged buildings on the other.

The cobbled streets lead you through a traditional village scene and open up onto an elegant park square, reminiscent of Hyde Park. Take a seat on one of the park benches and gaze over pretty English gardens and flower beds while kids play in Tiggers Hedge Maze.

Notice the traditional London terraced houses, complete with soot stained chimney stacks. You can almost hear Dick Van Dyke singing Chim Chimeree!

There’s a Butterfly and Herb Knot garden shaded by pretty Cotswold style thatched cottages. You’ll be able to see over 30 varieties of butterfly fluttering around the petals and leaves of the herb and perineal plants.

Canada Pavilion

The Canadian Pavilion offers breathtaking gardens, a trip through the Rockies and cascading waterfalls. It also offers of the most popular World Showcase at Epcot restaurants.

The Hotel du Canada was inspired by the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. It towers above the Canadian pavilion using a clever, forced perspective design. As you look up you will see 6 stories, but it is in fact only 3 stories high.

As you head towards the back of the Canada Pavilion, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, complete with native plants. Follow the boardwalk alongside the brook and cascading waterfall. Fun fact: The noise of the waterfall masks the sound of a hidden generator!

You’ll eventually arrive at the pretty Victoria Gardens styled on the Butchart Gardens outside of Victoria, British Columbia. The colors of the the landscaping around the Canada Pavilion changes with the seasons. White to represent winter, red and gold in autumn.

You’ll also notice the intricately carved storytelling totem poles in the Canada Pavilion. Each one represents a different cultural tale popular among tribes of Southeast Alaska.

Take a little time to study them. The Eagle Totem Pole tells one of Boxley’s favorite cultural tales: A boy frees an eagle he finds caught in a net. When hunger strikes the boy’s tribe years later, he finds the eagle waiting for him. The eagle has food to pay him back for his kindness all those years before. The lower part of this particular totem pole also tells the tale of how a beaver family taught humans the importance of treating all creatures with kindness and respect.

Dining at Canada Pavilion

Le Cellier – Designed to feel like an old wine cellar with low ceilings and stone walls, this is one of the most popular Epcot restaurants. It showcases Canadian beef (and classic poutine). The filet mignon with white truffle butter sauce is tops, but fans also love the Cheddar cheese soup made with Moosehead Beer, on the menu since the restaurant opened in 1982.

But the chef steps outside Canadian-sourced creations, too, with dishes like the house-made cannelloni and chicken and waffles (with Canadian maple syrup). Pair any dish with a glass of wine or Canadian beer. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
