There are lots of restaurants and stores and plenty of free Disney attractions to keep the the whole family occupied at Disney Springs:

Kids will be fascinated by the interior at T-Rex Cafe

  • The LEGO Store – 3000 square feet of displays, pick-a-brick wall, hands-on play areas and activity tables and larger than life models. FREE
  • T-Rex – a dino dining experience with funky decor the kids will love. A nice themed store for everything prehistoric and a Build-a-Dino Center. There’s a FREE archaeology play sand-pit.
  • Ghirardelli – the kids will love the FREE chocolate handed out to everyone on the way in to the store.
  • Boat Rides – Take a FREE water shuttle over to one of the resorts. The slow meandering pace through the waterways gives you a great view of the resorts. Hop off and explore the resorts, then hop back on again to the next stop.
  • Hidden Mickey Hunt – they are everywhere. Get the kids involved hunting for them, it’s a FREE fun activity, although you can buy Hidden Mickey books.
  • Splash Zones – There are two splash areas at Disney Springs and they are magnets for kids. take a change of clothes!
  • Stage Shows – check the schedule by the Performing Arts at Waterside Stage – there’s usually something going on and the shows are FREE.
  • World of Disney – the largest Disney character store in the world jam-packed with everything Disney. It might not be cheap, but it’s free to browse!

Free Disney Attractions: Chip n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long

Get back to nature and visit Disney’s Fort Wilderness Camp Site set among a 750 acre cypress and pine forest. This is one of our favorite free Disney attractions and the whole family will enjoy it.

Apart from Chip n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-longThere’s plenty of wildlife to see here too as well as playgrounds, pony rides and horse drawn carriage rides.

Chip n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long is held every night at 7pm during fall/winter and 8pm in spring and summer.

The event kicks off with a Cast Member singing well-known camp fire and kid songs.
Families sit around two large fire pits and roast marshmallows. (Take your own or buy from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar). Chip and Dale work their way around greeting and meeting and posing for pictures.

It lasts about 40 minutes and is totally open to non-residents. And it’s completely FREE.
If it’s a busy Holiday or event, priority is given to resort residents, so do try to avoid Holiday dates.

Disney has a great transport system that is totally FREE to everyone. A boat launch/water taxi is a particularly relaxing way to meander around the Disney resorts and it’s one of our favorite free Disney attractions.

Disney’s Boardwalk

Free Disney attractions - Disneys Boardwalk Resort

Disney’s Boardwalk Resort is one of the free Disney attractions available to all visitors

This wooden promenade is reminiscent of bygone eras of seaside resorts and it oozes elegance and charm. It’s one of the many free Disney attractions.

Here’s what you can do at Disney’s Boardwalk for little or no cost:

  • Take a slow stroll around Crescent Lake
  • Take a Friendship boat
  • Relax on the beach
  • Watch street performers early evening
  • Try your hand at Carnival Games
  • Watch an outdoor movie

Non residents can get free parking for up to 3 hours, as long as it’s not peak dates or a major event. If parking is limited, you can consider coinciding your visit with a dining reservation, or you can place a mobile order pick up for a beverage or snack from Boardwalk Bakery.

Also available Chocolate Lovers or Neapolitan.. It’s made for 4 to share, so sit down and dive in.

At $35, it’s not cheap or free, but it sure is good!

Free Disney Attractions: Animal Kingdom Lodge

You don’t have to be a guest to visit Animal Kingdom Lodge. Get up close and personal and view 200 mammals and birds. There are several free Disney attractions here.

Arusha, Uzima and Sunset are three savannas at Animal Kingdom Lodge set in 10 acres each. All three have viewing areas open to everyone and you can pick up a guide for each one at the front desk.

The lower floors will get you closer to the animals and the upper balconies will give you wider views, so check both out.

For sunset views, head up to the Sunset Savanna viewing balcony. They also have night viewing.

There are different animals at each Savanna including zebras, impalas, giraffes, gazelles hogs and wildebeest. Cultural representatives are available at the lobby outside Arusha savanna to share insights in the habits of the animals that roam Animal Kingdom.

Bird species include flamingos, ostrich, pelicans, vultures, cranes, storks and hornbills.

As the sun sets, you can also gather around a camp fire and roast marshmallows.

  • Cultural Tours – representatives will share their insights into the cultural flair of the African themed Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Parking is free for non resort guests. When you arrive at the parking lot, just tell the guard you are coming to look around the resort. There’s plenty to explore and the kids will love the African decor and the animals.

Please Note: During Covid operations, parking is limited, but you can place a mobile order for food and beverages at any location within Animal Kingdom Lodge prior to arrival and the guard will give you access. Alternatively, you can make a dining reservation at any of the amazing Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants.
