If you’re looking for hidden local gems during your Orlando vacation, The Catfish Place is just the ticket. Located in St Cloud, just a few miles south east of Walt Disney World, this historic local gem has been serving up native Florida specialties for almost half a decade.

There are some rare finds on the menu, including soft shell turtle sourced from local lakes and fresh gator from Florida marshes. And how about Florida frogs legs?

This no-frills local hang out is the place to go for genuine Florida cracker cuisine.

As the name might suggest, the star of the menu is wild-caught Catfish. Sourced daily from Lake Okeechobee and Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, this famous Florida fish is prepared and served up as fresh as it gets. The Catfish Place processes 6-8,000 pounds of catfish a week!

Homemade hush puppies and special house coleslaw complete the plate of special Southern eats, alongside a selection of home cooked sides. Think cheese grits, corn on the cob, homemade hash browns, veggies of the day and more.

Long-time servers offering that special Florida hospitality are always on hand with a smile – general manager Debbie has been with The Catfish Place for over 4 decades. Other staff members have been around for even longer – Judy and Mary both joined the team shortly after the restaurant opened almost 50 years ago.

What’s on the Menu at The Catfish Place?

A range of appetizers such as fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and potato skins. Plus seafood gumbo, clam chowder and soup of the day.

Entrees include all you can eat catfish, or one-serving entrees such as catfish, shrimp, fresh oysters, flounder, lobster and clams. There’s also a variety of meat dishes, including chopped steak, Southern fried chicken, fried chicken livers, steak and shrimp and T-bone steak.
