Disney World Lightning Lane Passes

Disney World Lightning Lane

As from July 24th 2024, Disney Genie+ was retired and replaced by a brand new Lightning Lane Pass system that should streamline your visit, minimize wait times and maximize your Disney experience. Lightning Lane Passes allow you to skip standby lines for select attractions, entertainment and experiences. Plus, it gives you a much more flexible and user-friendly approach to managing your park itinerary.

Whether you’re a seasoned park-goer or first-time visitor, understanding how the Lightning Lane Pass works will help you make the most of your time.

What is the
Lightning Lane Pass?

For those who have visited in previous years, the Lightening Lane Pass is more inline with the old FastPass system, except unlike FastPass, Lightning Lane Passes are a premium paid for option.

Disney World Lightning Lane Passes can be purchased and managed through the My Disney Experience App.

The Lightning Lane Pass enables you to make selections 3-7 days in advance. You can book from 7am on your eligible day to get the best options.

The Lightning Lane Pass also allows you to select another attraction as soon as your first one is used, enabling you to hold up to 3 selections at all times.

You won’t pay until you’ve chose your initial selections.

Lightning Lane Options:

There are two purchase options:

  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass – Allows you to make 3 selections in advance.
  • Lightning Lane Single Pass – Allows you to purchase up to two high demand attractions per day.

If you are staying at a Disney hotel, or select partner hotel, you can make selections from 7:00am Eastern, 7 days in advance for the duration of your stay. If you are staying off-property, you can make selections from 7:00am Eastern, 3 days in advance. If you have date based tickets, you can book all your ticket dates in advance on the first day of eligibility. For instance, if you have a 10 day ticket, you will be able to book all 10 dates, 3 days in advance of the first visit.

Much to the dismay of Annual Passholders, who can only book 3 days in advance for all dates.

Regardless of eligibility, you must have valid theme park admission to be able to book.

Standby Lanes are available for most attractions and rides for those that do not want to purchase any kind of Lightning Lane pass. The only two attractions in Disney World that currently do not offer standby lanes are Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot and Tron Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom. Both attractions offer a free virtual queue system that can be booked through the My Disney Experience app.

How Much is a
Lightning Lane Pass?

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a flat fee per day, per person. The Lightning Lane Single Pass is a fee per attraction, per person.

Prices for both the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass fluctuate and are time, date and attraction dependent, and subject to limited availability.

That means the more popular attractions will be higher priced the busier it is and the daily fee for the Multi Pass will be higher. On slower dates, prices will be lower.

Prices are always subject to change, it’s better to get an up to date costing for the day you are visiting, but these will give you an idea:

Lightning Lane Multi Pass Prices:

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – from $16
  • EPCOT – from $18
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – from $22
  • Magic Kingdom from $25

Lightning Lane Single Pass Prices:

Multi Pass Options

Rides and attractions are split into two groups in all parks, except Animal Kingdom, which only has one group. You will be able to select one attraction from group 1 and two from group 2. Alternatively, can you make all three selections from group 2.

The Lightning Lane system will suggest times based on your other plans, or you can select your own times.

All 3 advance selections must be in the same park. However, as soon as you have redeemed your first selection, you can immediately create another selection from either group.

If you have a park hopper ticket, you can select an attraction or ride in a different park as soon as your first selection has been used. You can hold 3 reservations at any time, so as soon as you use one, you can select another.

You will be able to modify and switch times around, depending on availability.

You will NOT be able to make selections from the Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions with a Multi Pass. These are only available with the purchase of a Single Pass.
