Walt Disney once said that Epcot would always be in a state of becoming. A place that changed with the times, technology, and its guests.
Epcot is currently undergoing the biggest transformation of any Disney Park in the world.
Over several years, the park will be transformed into four neighborhoods. it will bring the next generation of immersive storytelling to life through a plethora of new attractions and experiences.
The four neighborhoods will be:
- World Celebration
- World Showcase
- World Nature
- World Discovery
Each neighborhood will be filled with new experiences rooted in authenticity and innovation, taking you to new destinations. A place where the real is made fantastic in a celebration of curiosity, hands-on wonder and the magic of possibility.
New Experiences Coming to Epcot:
World Celebration
Epcot’s entrance plaza will be transformed with new experiences that will connect you with the world around. You will be welcomed with a reimagined fountain. Plus new pathways and sweeping green spaces that beautify the entryway.
The design will pay homage to the origins of Epcot.
Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth will continue to be the parks anchor and icon. The voyage through great moments in human history will continue. But inventions and technology will be replaced by storytelling. The overhaul of this iconic attraction will feature a ‘Story Light’ that will take us on a journey of new scenes. Along with a new guide and fresh narration.
Guests will then enter a transformed central hub called Dreamers Point.
And what better location for a brand new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney? Gazing out over his way-before-its-time epic creation. Of all the new experiences coming to Epcot, this statue has to be one of our favorites.
Dreamers Point will feature:
- Elaborate lush gardens
- A Wishing Tree in an Enchanted Forest
- An interactive Story Fountain celebrating the power and music of iconic Disney storytelling
- A New Pavilion
The new pavilion will be a beautiful, three-level structure and will have one of the most remarkable designs at any Disney park.
It will also be the home base for Epcot’s signature festivals. There will be plaza at ground level and an expo area on the mid level. The top level will feature a park offering sweeping views of new nighttime spectaculars.
World Showcase
There are some exciting new experiences coming to Epcot World Showcase. It will continue to celebrate the culture, cuisine and traditions from around the world. It will be infused with a little magic and some new attractions.
Brand New Nighttime Spectacular
Following the limited-time run of Epcot Forever in 2020, the new nighttime spectacular HarmonioUS will be the largest ever created for a Disney park. The new show will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over.
The nighttime extravaganza will carry guests away harmoniously on a stream of familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the globe. “HarmonioUS” will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, lasers and more.
New Attractions & Restaurant in France
The France pavilion will offer even more to discover, including the much-anticipated attraction Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. During this adventure, you will shrink to the size of Chef Remy and race through Gusteau’s restaurant on a wild adventure.
A delicious new restaurant called La Crêperie de Paris will be opening. The new location will offer both table and quick-service options. The menu will feature cuisine from celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse.
World Nature
World Nature is another of the many new experiences coming to Epcot. This neighborhood will be dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty, awe and balance of the natural world.
It will include The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilions.
Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana”
This is the first experience inspired by Moana, the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film. This attraction will feature a lush exploration trail where you will be able to meet and play with magical, living water.
The water will have a life of its own – just like Moana’s friend, the ocean. Learn about the importance of the natural water cycle.
Awesome Planet
The Land pavilion’s new film, “Awesome Planet,” will debit in January 2020. The new film showcases the beauty, diversity and dynamic story of planet Earth.
World Discovery
In World Discovery, stories about science, technology and intergalactic adventure come to life.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Ride on a daring adventure featuring Disney’s first ever reverse launch into space on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
This thrilling, family friendly attraction will feature a never-before-seen storytelling coaster that rotates 360 degrees to focus on the action, wherever it may be.
The adventure starts in the “Galaxarium,” a planetarium-like exhibition that explores the similarities and mysteries of the formation of Earth’s galaxy and Xandar. You will be invited to learn more about the treasures Xandar has to share . Until the moment when the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive, and adventures across the cosmos ensue.
Space 200 Restaurant
An expansion of the Mission: SPACE pavilion, Space 220 is a new restaurant set to open this winter. It will offer an out-of-this-world culinary experience with the celestial panorama of a space station. You’ll be treated to daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.
To reach the restaurant, you’ll need to board a special elevator and journey to a space station that is home to an incredible dining experience.
Along the way, viewports will give you real-time perspective as you travel high above planet Earth. Once you arrive, you’ll enjoy out of the world food and beverages while taking in galactic views.
Opening this winter, Space 220 will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group.
PLAY! Pavilion
PLAY! will open in time for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. In this interactive digital metropolis, you will discover an interactive city bursting with games, activities, and experiences that connect you with friends and family.
You will also have the chance to help legendary fashion icon Edna Mode on her quest to rid the world of uninspired style.
Or make a splash competing in a water-balloon fight hosted by Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.
Epcot has always been one of our most favorite parks. All these amazing new experiences will take it to a whole new level. We can’t wait to see it transformed!
