Astronaut Training Experience: Dad will get to join a launch crew and simulate a mission to Mars. He’ll go through the launching and landing procedures, as well as walking on Mars and experiencing microgravity. The Astronaut Training Experience lasts around 5 hours.

Fly with an Astronaut: Guided by a veteran NASA astronaut, Dad will get to see behind the gates of Kennedy Space Center. First, he’ll hear all about the journey to becoming an astronaut during lunch, followed by a Q&A session. Then the group will head to Space Shuttle Atlantis^® for a private viewing of the pre-shows The Flight and Coming Home. Finally, Dad will get to board Space Shuttle Atlantis to experience what it felt like to launch into space traveling 17,500 mph. Mars Base 1 Experience: This is a 7 hour experience that includes lunch too. Experience  life working on Mars, including managing the Base Operations Center, program robots, harvest plants and learn the challenges of living and working in such harsh conditions. Cost: $150

Land & Drive on Mars: Dad will undergo training on how to land on the surface of Mars and drive across unexplored territories and terrain.

Walk on Mars: Experience a microgravity environment without having to leave the safety of planet earth.

Does Dad Love Planes, Trains & Automobiles?

We have something for every transport buff on Father’s Day in Orlando.

Planes: Fantasy of Flight Collection

Fantasy of Flight has the largest collection of private vintage planes in the world. And what’s more, all planes in the museum have been lovingly restored and are fit to fly. The museum features around 20-25 aircraft from different flight eras. There’s also a gift shop featuring exclusive souvenirs.

The museum is open seasonally and is usually open from mid June, but do check the calendar.

Admission is $12 per person, $10 for seniors, $8 for children aged 6-8 and free for children 5 and under. All prices plus sales tax.

A Private Tour is also available, that lasts around 3-3.5 hours, for $500 for up to 5 guests, with $100 per person fee for up to 8 guests. Private tours are subject to availability and must be booked in advance.

Trains: Central Florida Railroad Museum

This museum might be tiny, but it’s packed with photos, exhibits, maps, signage, charts and historic railroad artifacts. Admission is free, but a donation is greatly appreciated. See full info

Located in Winter Garden, it’s well worth planning a few hours for a visit to this pretty town. The downtown area is lined with sidewalk eateries and unique stores. The museum is closed on Sunday’s, but plan a visit on a Saturday and you’ll also be able to catch the Winter Garden Farmers Market. Pop into Plant Street Market for a bite to eat or visit the Plant Street Craft Brewery.

Automobiles: Vintage Amphicar Tour

What better way to combine cars and boats? Take Dad on a Captain’s Guided Tour in a vintage amphicar. Tours are available from The Boathouse at Disney Springs.

The cars can drive on land and then splashdown into Seven Seas Lagoon.  The cost is $125 for a 20 minute tour for up to 3-4 people. Tours run 10am to 10pm, weather permitting

Is Dad an Adrenalin Junkie?

Hang Gliding at Wallaby Ranch

Treat Dad to a Tandem Discovery Flight for a totally unique experience. With an experienced instructor with him, he’ll get a birdseye view of Florida from 2000 feet up in the air. His instructor will teach him how to take control of the glider and he’ll experience free flying for around 15 minutes.

Wallaby Ranch is the first and largest aerotow hang gliding flight park in the world and founder Malcolm is the most experienced tandem hang gliding pilot in the world. He has over 30,000 incident-free tandem flights under his belt.

Drive a Military Tank

If Dad has always wanted to take control of a 17-ton FV433 real military tank, then Tank America is offering 25% discount for Father’s Day in Orlando. Cigar City Brewing – Tampa

Cigar City Brewing was established in 2009, and has become one of the most respected and beloved local breweries. It offers award-winning craft beers, unique brewery events and an immersive brewery tour experience.

When you tour Spruce Street Brewery & Taproom, you’ll witness the magic as you explore the state-of-the-art brewing facility and learn all about the techniques. You can sample brews, including the famous Jai Alai IPA and Florida Cracker Belgian-Style White Ale. Orlando Ale Line

If you want to experience a selection of breweries in one go, the Orlando Ale Line is the perfect solution. The 6 hour hop-on-hop-off Brew Loop runs continuously. You hop off at any brewery and the shuttle bus loops around continuously, giving you around an hour at each location.
