Every year, the first week in June brings the LGBT Community together in Orlando to celebrate Gay Days. The annual event and is packed with entertainment and gatherings ranging from parties to theme park days.

Gay Days meet ups in the Disney theme parks are an annual traditional, hence the term Disney Gay Days. The event is spreading the love each, with meet ups scheduled at Universal, SeaWorld and I-Drive too.

The event began in 1991 and has grown each year and now attracts over 150,000. Most attendees wear red shirts, so you’ll easily be able to spot where long lines for attractions are forming.

As so many attend, there’s no doubt the parks will be much busier on scheduled days, so if you want to avoid the larger crowds, check the calendar for Disney Gay Days and Gay Days in other Orlando theme parks.

Gay Days has in the past attracted some criticism. Some want to avoid the event, others think nothing more of it.  It’s certainly not an event solely for singles. There are lots of gay couples with children attend the events too. My Family Survived Gay Days and Protested By One Million Moms show differing opinions.

Although it’s not an official Disney event and no mention of it is made on any Disney publications, each year we see more and more merchandise to celebrate the event.
