We purchased this 4 bed 2.5 bath home and Transformed it into a 3 bed 3 bath oasis.

We loved the lake view, but the rest of the house needed some pretty serious love and attention!

The layout was a little odd. There was a master suite with a master bathroom. There was a second bathroom between the master and the kitchen. As a split level, it meant the 3 bedrooms on the other side of the house all shared one bathroom. The master had access to 2 bathrooms.

Kind of weird. And we didn’t love it.

We decided to knock out that spare bathroom and open up the kitchen to the living area, creating a more open plan living space.

We also converted two bedrooms into one and installed a bathroom to create a second master suite, giving us 3 bedrooms all with private bathrooms.

Living Area

What We Did:

  • Removed the bathroom between the master bedroom and kitchen which opened up the whole area to create an open plan living space.
  • Moved the doorway to the bedroom around the corner to give us more wall length in the living room.
  • Installed a closet and storage area.
  • Added super soft luxurious carpet throughout the living areas and bedrooms – it’s so soft and silky it feels like cashmere on your bare feet!

Kitchen

What We Did:

  • Installed new granite counter tops and a double stainless steel sink with retractable hose tap and hand soap dispenser.
  • Added a granite breakfast bar and stools.
  • Replaced all appliances with stainless steel.
  • Re-tiled the floor.
  • Went shopping! Everything is brand new, even the old trash can went in the trash.

Master Suite

What We Did:

  • Re-carpeted and added a new white bedroom suite
  • Ripped out the old bathroom suite and replaced it with granite counter-tops, new sinks and faucets.
  • Ripped out the old plastic shower cubicle and installed a new fully tiled shower enclosure.
  • Ripped out the old plastic corner tub and added a new tub and surround.
  • Re-tiled the floor with wood effect ceramic tile.

What We Did:

  • This was two bedrooms so we removed the dividing wall to create one large suite.
    Closed up the two old doorways.
  • Added a new doorway on a different wall.
  • Created a new bathroom and added a double vanity and installed a fully tiled shower enclosure.

Harry Potter Theme Room

What We Did:

  • Knocked down the hallway to extend the bedroom by several feet.
  • Added a doorway leading to the living area.
  • Installed a new vanity with granite counter top in the bathroom.
  • Gave the bedroom a Harry Potter Make-over.
  • We added a queen pillow-top and also a twin day-bed, so it’s perfect for adults or children.

  • Replaced screens and removed small vinyl window panels to open up the view fully.
  • Added new carpet and a new padded rattan patio set.
