Disney Genie is a free digital service accessed via the My Disney Experience app. This complimentary planning service is available to everyone, with options to upgrade and pay for premium extras.

All rides, attractions and entertainment in Disney World have free access to standby lines or virtual lines for everyone who doesn’t want to pay for any extras.

You can use Disney Genie to help plan your itinerary and get recommendations throughout the day.

Tip Board and My Day are the two main sections of Disney Genie, which display standby and Lighting Lane wait times, dining options and availability and access to virtual lines. You can place mobile orders or make dining reservations.

There are two premium options available in the Disney Genie Service.

Disney Genie+ costs between $15-$29 +tax per day, per person. It enables you to reserve time slots in Lightning Lanes for multiple attractions in all 4 theme Disney World theme parks. It’s a paid for version of Disney’s now retired FastPass system. There are 40+ attractions and experiences offering Lightning Lanes.

Individual Lightning Lane Selections gives you the option to purchase one time access to the main headline attractions in each park. This pay-per-ride option ranges in price from around $10 to $25 and with seasonal fluctuations.

You have the option to purchase Disney Genie+ with some ticket packages, or you can purchase individual days. You will be able to purchase Disney Genie+ from midnight on the day of your visit.

Disney Genie Upgrades

Upgrades are not essential, you can still enjoy your day and use the Standby lines and virtual lines for attractions, rides and shows with no additional fees. But the is a premium option is available for those who want to pay to maximize their time.

Disney Genie+

Disney Genie+ ranges in price from $15 to $29 + tax a day, per person/ticket,. It gives you a selection of upgrades including Lightning Lanes, which have replaced the old FastPass system.

Lightning Lanes: With Disney Genie+ you’ll get the option to select one Lightning Lane and head to that attraction at your selected time. There’s no limit to how many Lightning Lane selections you make a day, but you can only select one at a time. You can make a new selection as soon as you have checked in for your first attraction, or every two hours, whichever comes first.

For instance, if your first selection is for Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios but there are no slots until 7pm in the evening, you will still be able to select that attraction, plus another attraction EITHER every 2 hours (from official park opening), OR as soon as you check in for each of your Lightning Line selections, whichever happens first.

Disney Genie Lightning Lanes Individual Selection

Lightning Lanes Individual Selection

You do NOT need to purchase Disney Genie+ to access this feature. This is a stand alone a-la-carte option and can be purchased by anyone.

Lightening Lanes Individual Selection gives you the opportunity to purchase ride times through Disney Genie for up to two high demand attractions per day. We know that many visitors will also see this as a money grab. But for those heartbroken guests who have been unable to master the art of snagging a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance, it will be a blessing.

Lightning Lanes Individual Selections are limited and based on availability. Prices for these upgrades are based on seasonal demands.

Lightning Lanes Individual Selections will be available from official park opening times on the day of your visit. Disney World Resort guests will be able to make selections from 7am.

How to Use Disney Genie Service

Disney Genie is a virtual assistant designed to customize and maximize your park time and reduce your wait times. It will help with planning, create itineraries, predict wait times and offer tips.

You’ll start by telling Disney Genie your preferences based on must do’s. You can drill down and select exact attractions you must do, like Haunted Mansion or It’s a Small World. If you don’t want to be so specific, you can just select general experiences like princesses, animal attractions or characters.

You can be as in-depth and specific as you like, or you can just make a few selections.

Disney Genie will then look at the forecasted wait times, entertainment and dining options and create a personalized itinerary, inspired by your choices.

It will advise you where to start your day and keep you in the loop on an attraction status and standby wait times. If something changes that will affect your plans, or low wait times show on a particular attraction, the app will do a Switch to maximize your time.

Disney Genie Services Guide

It will update continually and make changes accordingly, based on standby lines, dining wait times and even weather.

It’s designed to make your day easy, fun and spontaneous and will recommend the best times to experience your choices.

Tip Board

Your personalized Tip Board on Disney Genie has two tabs that will display lots of info and offer suggestions and options. It will alert you of low wait times on popular attractions.

The Experiences shows current wait times for Standby lines and the next reservation times available for Lightning Lanes. It will also give wait time predictions for the rest of the day so you can choose to switch around your itinerary based on times.

The Dining tab shows wait times and mobile ordering options, plus give you the option to place an order, join walk up lines or wait lists. All done virtually from your app.
